Hooray! Not only have I been able to get back to doing some crafting, but I’ve remembered that it’s Wednesday!! I’ve been busy over the summer with my little B&B but bookings have dropped off now (thank goodness!) so I have a bit more time to myself.

I haven’t got a drink problem; honestly!

I have a neighbour who owns a restaurant, which is where 19 of the 23 bottles came from. On a Thursday, our church runs a cafe, called Step Inside, and we have little heart shaped ‘paddles’ for food orders. The idea is that customers stand the paddles on their table so our wonderful volunteers can deliver their food. They’re not very tall and sometimes the customers just lay the paddles down on the table so they can’t be seen. I thought it might be an idea to have these bottles on the table so the paddles can be placed in the top of the bottle, making them easier to see. I still need to put labels around the necks saying, “Please place your food order number in this bottle.” I also need to buy some sand or fine gravel to weigh down some of the bottles.

  1. So glad you have had some crafting time. It’s hard to come by some weeks. Great idea. I am all into repurposing. I’ve saved bottles for friends. They come up with great ideas. Some have lights put in, some have painted them, and the lace/ribbon ones are good use of stash. Thanks for sharing, have a great week.

  2. Hi Camilla. Great to see you up to date with the day of the week… See you tomorrow as you bring your new items with you to try out!! They look good. Well done – good thought. Caserole ingredients bought… just got to find the slow cooker then prepare loads of lovely looking veg
    Take care. God bless.

  3. What a great idea for using those bottles! You must be glad the season is winding down, I always think people who work ‘hospitality’ work so very hard (In fact I say it every time I change the sheets which I find exhausting – I think a B&B would see me off!). Happy WOYWW Cindy #18

  4. Good idea, that should make life easier! I was thinking of you this week actually as I use that little notebook you gave out at the Crop all the time (it stays in my handbag and is really useful!)

PS – yes it is the new SU trimmer.

  6. What a good idea to use the bottles in this way. Hope that the folks who come into the cafe use them wisely. You say the cafe is called Step Inside – is it the same one that Margaret goes to? We came down once and had lunch on a Thursday, even though Margaret was not there (she had a cold that day and we had thought to surprise her) we were made so welcome. You are lucky being a member of such a wonderful community (if I have it right that you and Margaret attend Emmanuel)

    1. Yes, Margaret and I both attend Emmanuel. We were both working at Step Inside today. I’m also the Church Secretary (amongst many other things).

  7. Nice idea Camilla, Step Inside will be that much easier to deliver, and with the numbers you are catering that can only be a good thing! Glad your B&B has had a busy summer. And…glad to see you’ve got enough double sided tape for a couple of projects!
