WOYWW 569

I can’t believe that I’ve missed at least 2 Wednesdays! I was determined not to let the end of the week arrive unannounced again so I’ve started writing this on Monday night.

I haven’t done much in the way of crafting over the last couple of weeks, but this week my desk is my dining table. I’ve just volunteered to sew scrubs for a local group and have my first pack of material. I printed out the pattern onto 48 A4 sheets and then had to stick it all together:

Sticking the pages together to make the pattern.

Kevin took this picture of me and had to stand outside the dining room window, hence the weird reflection of our car parked outside. And, yes, that’s a partly constructed model railway behind me. Although Kevin has a whole bedroom for his model railway, he’s decided to take over the dining room with his N Gauge layout. He is still actually working from home so I have to get in there whilst he’s working and then he’ll play about, I mean work on the layout, in the evenings.

Pinning the pattern to the fabric.

I cut it all out on Tuesday and will be sewing it all together later today. I wish I hadn’t given my overlocker to our daughter, Emma. She lives in Sheffield so I can’t get it back easily. So next week I will have pics of my first ever set of scrubs. Hwyl fawr!

  1. Good for you Camilla. My sister is very grateful that she hung onto her theatre scrubs from way back when. She is wearing them now when she is on rota at her practice as a GP rather than the week she is working from home. Thank you! Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #2

  2. Hi Camilla! Oh, what a wonderful image that presents of Kevin stood outside taking that photo! He sure is a star. Hope the sewing is going well. Are you going to make lots using lots of different fabrics? Or are the group providing you with the “right” material? I have seen some really great scrubs outfits on the internet… Afraid I can’t help with an overlocker… sorry.
Take care of yourselves. Stay safe. God bless you both.

  3. Well done you for making the scrubs! I think you’ll be doing a great job. I’m so proud of the crafting community, they’ve really risen to the challenge during the lockdown.

  5. Great pics of you in action, and I love the railway (Dad had a fab one we all used to love playing with it when we were kids) Good luck with the scrubs – what a fab hing to do. Helen #4

  6. Good on you for selflessly making these for the NHS, its heart warming to hear of all these volunteers making stuff, what a great difference it is.

Cant wait to see the scrubs

  7. Monday or Tuesday as I never know whether something will turn up and I can’t get the post finished so I understand. Hope we get to see this when it’s finished. Take care and have a very happy woyww, Angela x15x

  8. Looks like you are using your time so constructively and I am sure they will be very much appreciated. Stay safe and keep sewing.

  9. WOW. It is so great to see other kinds of creativity than paperwork, so to speak. Here in Denmark we also have restrictions of where to go or rather we are “adviced” of how to do this and that – I never saw Copenhagen this empty. Thank you ever so much for sharing. Kind regards Mariane #28

  10. I am in awe of sewers right now, well done . sorry I am a bit late visiting this week . Take care Soojay #24
